I snapped a whole wheel of my rear axle, what do you think its going to run me? What do I need to replace? Sorry I'm so vague. I hit a curb while sliding and the axle looks snapped.

Wouldn't the used axle be worn to the ring and pinion? If you swapped in a used one, wouldn't it tear itself or the R&P up?

Nope.

To the original poster, sounds like you might be able to just be able to get away with installing a new axle. It's really not hard to replace an axle; just get the rear of the car up on jackstands, remove the diff. cover, remove the bolt from the center pin, remove center pin, push inward on axle (might be difficult depending where you snapped the axle), pull c-clip from axle end, remove axle. My concern would be however, that you might have bent an axle tube on the housing, but it's kind of unlikely. You can typically get a single axle at the junkyard for fairly cheap ($15-$30); they're the same in 4 cyl. cars as 5.0's.

....and you oughta check and see if you did any other damage. If you hit the curb that hard, it's possible you've damaged other components too - check the wheel - it's likely bent; check suspension pick-up points; and once you get it back together, see if the rear end is making noises and if the posi is still working. Lastly, probably ought to have a shop check the alignment, and take a look at the tire in question. If it wasn't destroyed in the impact, it may well have separated a belt internally which can lead to vibrations and failure.
