Rear blackout panel/tail lights

BleedingvayneAD,

I detailed the car and modified the blackout area around the rear emblem to hide irregular cutout..... I am very happy with it. I definately like the rigid vinyl panel.

How did you modify the area around the fake filler cap? I test fitted my Xenon plastic blackout last night and there is a significant gap (1/8"-1/4") around the cap. Ticked me off. I suppose I can get some black pinstriping and put a circle around the cap to hide the car's paint that's exposed but if there's a better way...

That is exactly what I did. I was also worried about water sitting between the panel and paint, causing paint damage and weaking the adhesion of the 3M tape. Can't even tell that it has been modified with the pinstriping and it has sealed up the area where water could get in.
