So after much needed TLC I decided to put some new pads on the rear of my 94. After a quick drive around the block I noticed that coming to a stop resulted in the car dying. (as if I had left it in gear and came to a stop)

So I drove it around a lil more only to notice they were EXTREMELY hot and one side was even smoking

What the hell even causes them to drag that bad

Did you twist the rear brake lines or are your e-brake lines binding?
Did you install everything correctly?

How are your e-brake springs? Do they operate freely?

Did you turn in the pistons on the calipers?

I'll have to check the e-brake cables after work.

Yep pistons were turned in.

Check your pads to ensure they're fully seated, properly, and not binding on any of the pins, or other mounting points/aids that might be keeping them from fully relaxing
