can i use the rear caliper mounting brackets off of a 94 to convert my 89 to disc or to i have to buy aftermarket ones

Well if you use them off a '94..then you need to do a '94 style rear disk setup with the axles, rotors, caliper brackets and lines.

yes you can use the brackets, but you will have to use the axles too, and your using the smaller of the brake setups. and the wheels will be pushed out, if you want to run anything wider then an 8" wheel, your choices are limitied to the FMS r48 (i think) cobra r, or a custom made wheel.
or you can the NRC brakcets, cobra brakes, and stock length axles and have a much wider choice of wheels.
