Suspension Rear Coilover Question In 68

Guys, I hope someone can help fairly quickly.. On Sunday Im going to look at a mini-tubbed 68 mustang project, it has a ladder bar setup with rear coilovers, the odd thing is the coilovers are in the front of the rear and not in the back, Im far from an expert on this but that doesn't sound right to me, any info would be helpful..

This sounds familiar

Trucks with 4 links you can often find the spring mounted in front of the axle

as long as the rear suspension is properly engineered, it doesnt matter where the springs or shocks are located. however the location does affect the spring rate and spring travel. in one location a higher spring rate is needed to maintain proper suspension control, in the other a softer spring can be used to maintain similar control.
