Rear deck lid prop rod?

I did a search on "decklid", "deck lid" and "rear deck" and came up empty, so here go my rather Melvin questions: I bought a rear deck lid prop rod off e-bay. I know they weren't available until '70, so there may be a difference in the '69s that prevent them from just snapping into place.
1) on which side do they attach at the bottom?
2) do they snap into the top of the light bucket?
3) is the hole on the '70 light bucket larger than the '69?
4) where does the top attach?
5) what is the metal clip about 1/2 way up the rod supposed to attach to?
