If you search, you can find more detailed explanation.

Basically cut the spring out, cut the tab on the top pawl off and then click the handle about 3 teeth and weld it up.

If you dont cut the little tab circled below, the ebrake handle wont go down all the way, it will always stick up slightly.

Parking brake

Thanks! I actually did something similar to it except I welded on the outside
where the cable rides on and the parking brake frame= same thing just diff welding points. Thanks alot.

By the way I know there is prob a writte up somewhere, else here just could'nt find it. I don't know how to get all the info together and combine it into one archive. many other members could use this info.

Again thanks for the pics.

Great info, hopefully this will cure my ebrake troubles! Put the new cables on for the rear discs, pulled the handle 3 times before it held, then wouldnt release until I manually released it under the car. Time for the mod! Glad I used the search button haha.

I did my brakes years ago without the mod, and got it to work fairly well, but they eventually got to the point they would not hold, even after adjusting them. I pulled the handle ALL the way up still no go. A friend modded an extra 2003 handle he had for me and I installed it with new cables. So far, the new modded handle has worked much better.

If you look at the Ford M-2300-K install instructions, it shows pictures and instructions on what needs to be done. It also provides part numbers for the adjustable brake cable.
