Rear drain plug

There isn't one... You must remove the cover, and let the oil drain. For what it's worth, don't replace the gasket around the rear diff. cover; use blue RTV to make your own gasket (unless you can get Ford's gray gasket maker; that stuff's awesome). Blue RTV makes a much better gasket that's bump resistant...

Tranny holds about 2.5 quarts of ATF. Fill it until it reaches the fill plug on the passengers side of the tranny, above the drain plug. I use a 3' long fuel hose snaked down from under the hood with a funnel on the end to fill it up. Others use a pump or remove the shifter and fill it there, but you should reseal the cover with RTV.

Let's see, without a drain plug or a fill plug, I'd recommend not taking that rear cover off. 
Yes, there's a fill plug. And you want to run a Mercon/Dextron rated atf in the tranny (the manual - not a typo). And you want to be sure whatever fluid you put in the rear has friction modifier in it, or that you add the small bottle of friction modifier, for the traclok limited slip. Otherwise it will chatter in low speed turns.
I just resealed the rear cover in mine (Dana 30 with drain plug, and fill plug in the cover - easy to reach). Had a "seap", not quite a leak (it wouldn't drip). I prefer using a gasket with rtv on the rear cover. I'd also recommend using thread sealer on the bolts that hold it in place. I cleaned it all up, painted it black, and put stainless bolts/lock washers back in. Looks great. Enjoy the smell.

as you know, you will have to remove the cover to drain out the oil........when you put the cover back on, use some rtv.........when you are ready, on the driverside of the diff, in the front, you will find your fill plug..........i believe it takes a 1/2" extension to get r loose..........kind of a ******, but you can git r dun..............hotwheels

Don't forget the friction modifier! When you open the little bottle up, don't hesitate to take a big ol' whiff! Mmmmm. The aroma is like no other! You gotta' love it!

Actually there is an aroma that's slightly better than the new fluid in the bottle - that's the smell of the old fluid coming out of the rear end....(hope no one takes that last bit out of context)

By the way, I made the mistake once of taking off the diff cover on an old MG before I took the time to see where the fill plug was. Once it was all drained out, I took one look at the fill plug and my heart sank. The previous owner had mauled up the fill plug so bad that it couldn't be taken off AT ALL! I ended up having to punch a hole in the diff cover with an air chisel to fill it up. A wine cork and some RTV, and I was back in business!

Adding the wine cork to the MG probably made it happy. The brits were know for their oil leaks. My contention is that it wasn't oil at all. The cars and bikes just had so much class it oozed out, and people mistook it for lubricant.

I guess with the drain plug in the bottom of the cover, you can't quite get all the old stuff out, right?
