What is the rear gear ratio in my 88 5spd stang.

1988 with a T-5 I believe is 3.73:1 My guess.

3.45 is the most common 5 speed car gear. and 3.73 is the most common auto gear HTH

I would second that, but if you want to make sure check the sticker on the inside of the driver door. Code for 3.45:1 is 'F'

or the tag on the rear, just incase its ever been changed and if the tag says 3L45 hang on to it. Its a GM POSI unit

I agree that manuals have 3.45's and auto's have 3.73's.

I thought my T5 car had 3.73's but I would have to double check

its worn out and an open diff so I got this junkyard traclok rearend lined up for the frankenstang

Nice score for the trac loc, I am stupid the 3.73 is for the auto's because without that ratio the thing would not even get out of its own way. If your car came stock as a manual the 3.45 is correct I am ashamed.
