Rear End Question

I'm looking for a new complete rear end. I was looking at the the rear end from Strange Engineering with the 31 spline axles, 1/2" stud kit, C-Clip eliminators and a Pro Race Lite Spool. A guy that I know, when I told him about this set up, asked if I wanted to go through a lot of tires with the spool. My question is, why would I go through a lot of tires with a pro race lite spool? What exactly does a spool do?

if this is a race car yeah go to a spool. if it driven on the road spools are not friendly in turns.

Cool. Thanks for your input. It is going to be a street/strip car, so I'll probably leave out the spool.

You just wish that you could get a faster time than I can at the track. Take your Slobra and go race a Civic or something.
