Rear End Woes

After investing over $1000 in labor and new parts (ring & pinion, all bearings, axles, clutch discs in differential) on a rear-end rebuild it whines like howling dog. It was in the shop for over a month because the mechanic (trusted & qualified) had to tear it down several times to try to quiet it down with no success. I am now being told that my rear axle housing is bent which is why it can't be aligned properly. Apparently this car took a lick to the left side (evidence of body work) that I was unaware of when I purchased the vehicle (clean CARFAX). My options now are to purchase a used complete rear end assembly from a local salvage yard for $700 or purchase a new empty rear axle housing from Ford for $750 and have all my new parts installed in it. Has anyone had experience with changing out the entire rear axle, and which option would you go for? I'm going to have to do one or the other because I can't live with the whine.

I specified I wanted only Ford Motorsport 3:73 gears. Hopefully that is what he ordered.

Rear End Woes Cont'd

I'm located in N. Alabama. Genuine Ford Parts out of Sherman Texas wanted $571 for a bare housing plus $170 to ship. The used housing is complete our of a 99 GT. I already have all new parts to go in it. I did find out that the ring & pinion the mechanic purchased for me were not Ford Racing but a company called "speedmotor" whom he claims makes the gears for Ford Racing. I could not find any proof of that so I have personally ordered the Ford Racing gears to put in when he rebuilds the used housing I have now purchased. I did also find a complete rear axle assembly out of a 03 Centennial Coupe in Georgia that would have run me $950 delivered. I'm committed now (or should be) to using this housing out of a 99 GT. I'll let y'all know how it works out.
