Yes you can, but before you do it you better have no chassis flex. I also suggest that you use a hatch latch from a mid 80's Camaro. The electric kind with a worm gear that pulls it closed slowly. All the blunt force from a factory latch will destroy a glass hatch in short order.

I never heard of that one, I even googled it.

The stock hatch has a lot of flex, if I slam it latch might not lock so I always pull it down and press the hatch untll it locks. Its the same way I close my hood, I never drop it.

I remember the Camaro (F body) hatch thing...that was a pretty cool feature but i think that hatch was a lot lighter than a fox hatch.

Just curious but why do you feel the need to get a fiberglass hatch? You might drop some weight but you're also going to make the car even more nose heavy. There are better ways to loose weight that will balance out weight distribution better.

I wonder how much the stock and fiberglass hatch frames weigh, because most of the weight is from the glass. And isnt paint more prone to cracking and chipping on fiberglass? If so it would be easily done on a fox flexi hatch, all the fiberglass is good for is that it wont rust.

I'd say there's not much weight difference. You have one of two things....you have a flimsy hatch that's designed for lexan and not glass, or you have a sturdy hatch designed to hold glass...the one designed to hold glass (probably the Cervinis) probably won't weigh much less than stock. With the way the hatch flexes, i would stick with steel.

I thought about getting a fiberglass lid for my coupe but the stocker doesn't weigh anything so what's the point?

Glass won't rust. That is most peoples reason for getting one. Cervini's doesn't sell race weight parts so my guess would be that the hatch is intended for street use. Paint sticks to fiberglass or even bathroom glass for that matter just as well as steel if it is prepped right. I have never had problems with the paint on my hoods. Ford and Chevrolet both use fiberglass body panels without issue.

Technically they are a composite and not true fiberglass.
