Rear Frame Rail / Trunk Floor

I know it didn't look right when I finally removed the rusted trunk floor. I always wondered why the ends of the rear frame rails were split. Well, some hack did a butcher job on the rear of the 72 coupe I'm restoring.

Looks like the car took a hit and instead of doing the job right, they took a piece of one car and mounted it on the frame rails and just bolted it on. They took the tail light panel, trunk crossmember and about two feet of the frame rail and just wacked it on and bolted it together.

Here's my dilemma, can I use the 65-70 back section of the rear frame rails and correctly fix the issue. I would hate to have to buy two complete rear frame rails at $250 per, also considering that for the most part they are in good condition. Also, I just completed the floor pan replacement and I don't want to undo part of it.

Thanks for any help anyone has.
