hey guys, I'm new here and new to my 5.0
I have a 93 coupe that has a decent amount of mods, the main being nitrous.
the block is redone, has eagle rods, stock crank, TRW pistons, Edlebrock heads, cobra intake
C4 trans,
The problem area is the rear - the rear gears are shot. currently running 3:73 ratio but I wasn't really sure what to do to get the best possible ET
I don't mind the car reving high while driving on the street since this car will not be seeing alot of street driving. The car is shifted at 6000RPM's.
What would you suggest if I continue to use the car for nitrous up to say a 200 shot?

I know I threw a lot of info in there and maybe not all the details needed but the car already has an auburn center section, Moser axles, and whining/shot gears.

suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys!

Thanks,
Ron

There are a few things to consider...

1. If you are going to run in a particular class, what are your competitors trapping at?
2. Examine the powerband of the engine if you have a recent dyno sheet. From that, where do you want your RPM at the far end of the track?
3. What size tire do you plan on running?

If you look at some of the "mid-level" NMRA classes that run blower/turbo/nitrous combos, many of those folks tend to run a 3.73 (plus/minus). They don't need a lot of gear to nail down those sub 1.5 sec 60' times.

thanks guys
I don't have a dyno sheet YET because I just bought the car last weekend and it has spent rear gears. I can drive it but it howls louder than my ex

anyway, I have 26x10 ET Drags on the car
C4 trans, 6000 RPM redline
the car has a 200 shot ready to go. I can't really try this car out until I go over everything and get the rear corrected.

please keep the suggestions coming.
does anyone know approx how the car would react to 410's?
anyone running C4, 410's and nitrous. I never had a nitrous car before so I have nothing to compare it to. I plan to run nitrous all next season then a different power adder for my future engine project.

Thanks again guys!
Ron

4.10's with 26 inch tall tires will have you running 110mph at 6000rpm

3.73's with 26 inch tall tires will have you running 120mph at 6000

trust me i know i went with 4.10's with my aod. now i will have to run a 28 inch tall tire to reach the 120mph mark.

If the car is gonna see limited street use,go with the 410's!! Like some one said,if your revving to high at the finish line,go with 28 inch tall tires You cant beat the excelleration of gears
