I have a question regarding the installation of lap belts in the rear seat of a 65 fastback. I realize that rear seat belts were not available in this model year.
My question is how do you route the belt itself through the rear seat. I have seen some cars that have the belt ran through the fold that is about 1/3 of the way up the seat back. IMHO this is not safe and does not look good.
How can you route the belt so that it passes between where the bottom seat cushion and the seat back meet?

I just used 66 rear seat upholstery - already had the seatbelt slots that way.

Just pull out the seat bottom and stick the seat belt through. Reinstall the seat bottom and pull the belt tight.

Sorry Dave, but he can't do that. (....daisy.....daisy........ Dave?..........Dave.........I can't allow you to give that info Dave......) LOL!!

Look at BobV's pic, the fastback seat bottom goes 6"-8" up the back, so the belts won't ride around you hips like they're designed to do. Only bones in that area is your spine, probably better not to wear any then.

I agree, the '66 upholstery seems to be the only way to go that's not too $$$.

Oops, I was thinking of my 67 coupe and neglected the pic altogether.

update

The upholstery shop was able to create "slots" for the belts to pass thru the 1965 rear seat. Looks good and should work fine.
Thanks,
Scott
