rear spring eye bolt

OK guys just trying to finish up my suspension install, flying through(after an initially slow start learning the tricks for the front) the install until I hit the front rear spring eye bolt. One the first side I'm committed to a sawz all affair to get the spring off(almost there with about 45mins of cutting invested), but any words of wisdom to spare my sanity on the other side??

BTw, this is on a 65 with what look to be orig springs.

CUT, CUT, CUT.

I didn't have a good sawsall blade so we ended up useing a grinding wheel and cutting the round part of the spring then cutting the bolt. If you have a torch it would be that much easier or one guy used an impact hammer and a punch.

I couldn't get mine out either and actually started cutting the spring, then I saw a post that said to get a big C clamp and a deep well socket and press the bolt out. Worked like a charm and saved me a ton of time.

I used an 8" C clamp and dont remember the size of the socket but it just needs to be the same or larger size than the head of the bolt.

Then put the socket over the head of the bolt and the C clamp goes on the end of the socket and the other end pushes on the threads end of the bolt. Start twisting and listen for the big "POP"s.

Made life 100 times better for me and didn't damage the bolts either.

Hope that helps - be careful under there.

Put anti-seize on your new bolts.

Sorry, did a search and it didn't come up with the other thread or much of anything else.

Well, I do feel a lot better, at least I know I'm not crazy and that this thing is a real b*tch. I'll try the c-clamp then back to the sawz-all if that doesn't work.

You need tungsten carbide blades. They look like they have black sand glued on them with no teeth. Anything else and you are pissing in the wind.
