Please post pics if you have them of any rear valances (on early Stangs) that have been modified with either body kits or any type of ground effects. I have a very low rear fuel sump I'm trying to cover and wanted to see if anyone had done it. Thanks!

I have thought about it but it would look stupid without the extension going around the sides to the rear tires. If you did that, it would probably make the side look stupid. Consider making a wrapunder rear valance to go under the car and cover the sump. If you go that route, I would make it attach under the body to make the airflow go smoothly uinder the car and out.

Thanks. That's why I was hoping to see what others have done. I could imagine it looking fugly, and I can also imagine it looking great.

I think the fuel cell (sump) sticking out below the rear valance kinda looks cool. I will get a pic of mine and put it up.

Historic, you should think about an advantage of directing air to where you want it. At road course speeds, it would not be significant, but neither is ten lbs. here or there. Add it all up and then it makes a difference. If you could seal up the rear valance so the air didn't hit a brick wall at the rear valance, it would have to help.

Or, drill large holes in the rear valance (as I have seen) and let the air out. Even witnessed large holes drilled just below the trunk lid to let air out.

My sheet metal is all original (except for the fender lips).

I had a bung put on the side of the sump at the back corner. I did not see any good way to do it coming straight out he back. An A1000 is mounted just ahead of the tank about level with the sump outlet. I could not find anywhere else to put it, plus it keeps it low. The feed to the pump makes a gentle 180* bend to the pump inlet. Nothing sticks out past the bottom of the valance. I tried to take a pic, but they did not turn out so good. I'll try again in the daylight.

Hey, that's sweeeeeeet...

The only mods that I've seen on the rear valance is to cut them up, granted louvering them might look pretty cool, make it so that he louvers are opening up instead of down. I don't know how that would affect the air flow though.

In keeping with the theme of car pictures posted so far

How about getting some of those trucker mud flaps that say "Keep On Trucking" ?
You could be starting a whole new...er...old theme!

Or, if your pipes come out at the bottom of the valance on each side, you could lower just the center section to match the bottom of the exhaust tips. Put a slight roll at the lip to give it a factory apperance, and some strength, and you wouldn't have to worry about blending it in to the sides. You could also paint the added section with a charcoal color, and it would pretty much disapear.
