Has anyone replace the piece of rubber weather stripping that runs along the base of the rear window between the decklid on a 99+ Mustang? Mine is stained severly and I found a replacement piece but I'm told it requires the window to be removed, is this correct???

Thanks for any info

Whoa! Is that correct? Mine is completely loose and I could pull it off with ease if I wanted to.. is that bad?

For the bottom molding you dont have to remove the window. Just pull it off and slide the new one right on. A little bit of silicone at the ends will help it stay on.

Mine is the same way, all I have to do is pull down and it will come right off. It's all dry-rotted underneath.

I'm tempted just to buy a new one and yank off the old one to see what happens...the old one will literally slide right off. I have a friend at Ford that is checking with his techs as well as in his manual to see if requires removal of the glass. The only part that looks tricky is on the ends

Mine is the same way. Let us know if you can do it without removing the window. If so, I'm jumping all over that. Looks like crap right now.

Where did you get the replacement and what did it cost?
