rebuil questions

I am going to rebuild my engine and am woundering what cams and injectors to get. I am going 10 to 1 on compression ported pi heads and forged pistons. Also any other recommendations are welcome. Just want a good sounding streetable car. Thanks!

What are your future plans for the car? Do you already have the heads?

If you are planning on staying NA, I would keep your NPI heads and have them ported, rebuild the block w/ Mark VIII or 96-98 cobra pistons, get a set of stage 2.5 - 3.5 MHS cams, and headers. You'd still have the benefit of a higher C/R, and would also benefit from being able to run cams w/ more aggressive intake centerline compared to cam options for PI heads. With this combo you'd have a very broad torque curve and would make a very fun car to drive on the street. This is similar to what 98COBRA281 did to his car, and that thing is almost running 11's redlining at 7K (he does have the edelbrock intake however).

If you are planning on a FI set up in the future, get some ported PI heads, rebuild the block with 99+ pistons to keep the C/R from being too high, buy blower cams, and install headers since the motor will be out anyways.

I would call nick at modularheadshop.com for cams and heads and he will tell you what injectors to run.

Agreed, Nick is the man. I exchanged e-mails with him last week asking the very same questions you are. We also talked about the stock heads too and he said the following:

NPI heads make about 10 more ftlbs from the earlier possible cam advance and PI heads make about 10 more RWHP from the higher compression from what I have seen.

You could just do a NPI Stage 2 cam and would be down about 15-20RWHP of a PI head and 2P cam swap.

im really a fan of ported pi heads myself..

cobra rods and pistons
ported pi heads
nasty cams
eddy intake
lt's

= 320rwhpish~ and lots of rpm!!

my motor is stock compression with ported heads and degreed pi cams, and it dosent really fall off power until 6200.. I imagine it would like 7000 easily with cams and that intake..

I already have pi conversion and am planning on keeping the compression at 10:1 with forged pistons and agressive cams just not sure what cams will be very streetable. Not planning on going FI just an everyday driver.
Who is a good tuner in the Southeast?
