im wanting to start get parts and savin up to rebuild my motor in my 89 gt this winter,im on a budget as well,id like to make it a 347 but im not sure bout the price, and how expensive everything would be to upgrade,i recently saw a 306 kit in summit for like 800 somthin, and i thought that a 302 bored 30 over made a 306,would it be cheaper just to rebuild my 302 and bore it 30 over, would it be the same results?my dad said that the kit in summit was pretty cheap for everything it came with so thats most likely wut ill use,but as far as heads, wut should i use being on a budget, would gt40s work good,or see about gettin my stock ones ported, and also wut about intake would an explorer intake be good?could i get my stock intake ported and gety any good out of that?im just wantin to have more power than i have now,not any big numbers, maybe 250-300 if possible.im gonna have to start savin up for everything thats why im wandering wut route i should go.becuz i want to do somthin it has 188,000 on it and a lifter is makin a lil noise.id like to keep my stock injector size or maybe go to 24s,and i want a better cam, maybe a B or E cam.anyone have any ideas that would help me get started savin up for this.

On a budget, if you are looking at a $800 306 kit, the cast stroker kits range from $800-900, for the 347.

Now you will also want to include the price for a new flywheel and balancer, for the different imbalance, like 28 oz.

You could always run a new bottomend (331 or 347), and just upgrade the top-end (heads, cam, intake) at a later date to really open up the engine.

You can imagine about another $700-$800 for machine work as well.

It all adds up quickly, if you are looking to "upgrade."

Good Luck:)
