Does anyone have an approx cost of what a basic rebuild should cost these days? What is the best way to go about this? Is it better to buy one of those rebuilt blocks from mustangs unlimted perhaps for $699, get my origianal heads reworked and just add the cam I wonder? Anyone have any experience with these engines that have already been rebuilt as far as the quality?

I've been away from stangs for several years now and I have lost touch with some things... lol

you can pull your motor, get quality pistons/rings/bearings and machined/balanced for about $1200-1300 total, I did mine like that about 8 years ago, still runs strong, even had nitrous on it for like a year

Can you lay the car up? How much time? Do you have mech skills to pull the motor yourself? If you know a good machine shop in your are then rebuild yours, if not then one of those rebuilt blocks may be a good way to go.

Yeah, I'm able to do everything myself with no problem. I'm just wanting to get it on the road around summertime. I've heard some good and bad things about those remand blocks.. Was just curious if anyone else has anything good or bad to say about them...
