Has anyone ever rebuilt a Carter fuel pump? I pulled mine and found some play in the shaft. So I was thinking of rebuilding it, but I've never even seen a kit for it. Thanks.

Better check the cost of a new pump against a kit. I haven't seen a rebuild kit in uears.

About $20 for a new one at your local parts store.

I think that explains why kits may not be readily available: rebuilding the old pump is hardly cost-effective.

It's not a stock pump though. It's an aftermarket street pump that I can take apart.

sounds like your spring has weakened causing the play. NOt sure about a kit for those, though.
