Hey guys.

I have a bad T-5 on my 95, and am considering my options. It's not pertinent because the one on it opperates, but I can tell doesn't have a long lifespan left. My options are the typical - to buy new, rebuilt, used or to rebuild mine or another one myself. I would like to rebuild one myself if a possibility to save money and learn. Obviously buying used is dangerous in many situations. And new, thats just too expensive.
Anyways, nuf ranting, my question is - I'm aware of compatibility issues from the T-5 from the Fox body to the T-5 in ours and am wondering if that is something that is corrected when doing a rebuild or is it an extra part that would have to be purchased and installed during rebuild? I think it's the input shaft and maybe more.

imput shaft, is part of it..... if you are rebuilding a fox t-5 you might as well rebuild your 95 t5, they have the same torque rating.......

i would say that whether or not to rebuild etc, depends on how you drive.......

what kind of power are you making at the wheels? i've gone threw 4 Tcraps and i'd say go G-Force. I would do one of these over a tremac cause they are rated the same if not more as a tremac for TQ and HP and for about $900 less! Plus they weigh less due to the fact that they reuse the stock Tcrap case's and put in the bad boy internals which are the same as a tremac!!!! I bascially have one in my SN and no problems so far and i'd say after the tune and all i should be around 300+ HP and TQ? With the bottle hopefully over or just under 400 at the wheels? The main deal with the T's are the 3 rd. gear cluster shaft being 2 peices and the weak materal of the metal. If you do go with a tremac or a fox tranny i have a new STEEDA 11/16 drive line spacer i can sell you that you will need for the conversion. You can also install the fox tranny into a S/N BUT you need the bell housing as well as a S/N clutch fork and the drive line spacer and the same goes for the tremac. Here is a link to one oftheplaces i called talk to them before you do anything! http://www.astroperformance.com/. Good luck and let me know on the drive line spacer if ya need it . peace

well everyone dogs on the t-5, It is not a drag racing trans for sure....... However certain things will allow it to last without much hitch..... Gears, take away some of the bind on the tranny to move the car with a high gearset in the rear, clutch-need one that has clamping force, but not a shock factor that would set off the rictor sp? scale...... Shifter-one that has stops as to not destroy the shift forks when powershifting etc.... Driving, knowing how to drive also helps.....

Jason , yes you are right with all of this, but the weakist point in the T-5's is the cluster shaft, just aout everyone i talk to that rebuilds or has T problems it ends up being 3rd. The stock T-5 's arent ratted to all that much HP or TQ and are not made to be shifted at high RPM's beside these factors i have the rest covered. i have the best shifter a spec I clutch and well my shifting thats another story LOL! peace

your killer is gonna be the spec, they don't have the springs to absorbs shock like the stock style....... yeah the cluster is weak, there is a company that is manufacturing a brace to go inside the case now, to prevent the spreading that causes the breakage, upon my rebuild i believe i am gonna try it........
