bottom end rebuilding...

hey quick question for yall out there...i think i may have to rebuild the bottom end in my 99 35th anniversary gt. im a little stuck on what exactly i should do. so thats where your opinion helps. i dont have unlimited money here, but i want a good solid foundation that i can count on in the future to lets say 550-600 rwhp. what is the best route to go..an assembled short block, or buy the kit and put them in the stock block? which would be overall cheaper to do? if buying the assembled block is the best route which company would be the one to choose? if buying the internals themselves are the best, which brand would be the best choice to go with. any info is greatly appreciated here!!

Sean Hyland sells a GT shortblock capable of 600hp for $3495. they have a 302 shortblock for $3995. i would personally build up the motor myself, however i have access to pretty much any tool i could possibly need.
