Red Light Cameras a Scam.

Just got a red light camera ticket today.....From a machine not a human.
All the picture shows is a shot of my liscense plate. Not the position of my car in the intersection ... this is a a scam, the yellow lights are set too short,
and the camera shot proves nothing. The red light companies are on
Commission! The more tickets, the bigger the profit. BS

Idk about your city, but in Houston if you get one of those tickets, there's a website that they send you to that shows a video of you running the light.

But the real issue here is a machine is writing tickets....

Well don't pay it. That's your best bet. That's how they bankrupted arizona's speed camera system. Some very high percentage of people never paid the tickets (like 65% + ).

Just tell them you were busy reading the posted sign that states, "This intersection monitored by red light cameras", and you didn't notice the light change.

Cool, I mean pretty soon we will be getting tickets for doing 42 mph in a
40 mph Zone. From a #%&@ ing machine.

Yeah when I was at Fort Hood my buddy got one of those in the mail from a red light in Killeen. We had a good time watching him blast through the intersection on our work computer haha

Funny thing was, an 18 wheeler blocked the camera and just as the trailer cleared it, my buddy gunned it through a red light and the camera caught him.

i've said it before. and i'll say it again those things are full of shït,
the problem is all about the 'timing' have you ever noticed how fast they go from green to red. only stay yellow for like 2seconds, giving you 2 options #1 blow through and get the ticket. option #2 slam the brakes to avoid ticket. but get rear ended,

it's easy for someone to say. 'just stop' i don't care if you have the best brakes in the world, even doing just the speed limit 35-45 MPH, when it go's from green to red
in less then 4 seconds, and from a distance of 15-20 FT" YOU CAN'T STOP IT,

cameras will work if timed fairly. like none camera intersections

All redlight camera tickets are reviewed by law enforcement officers (they even sign the ticket) so it isn't exactly like a machine is issuing you a ticket. They are basically providing proof to a LEO that you ran the light and then the LEO basically writes the ticket.

......but yeah, I can't ****ing stand those things!

No they are not.

The images are reviewed by a tech working at a remote location for plate visibility. It's a machine capturing the image and deciding it's a ticketable offense. The tech merely verifies the plate. The ticket is generated in the name of the registered owner, not in any way written out by an actual person to the offending driver.

There is no accuser to challenge in court. It's a machine. And by issuing the ticket to the registered owner instead of the driver, there is no due process - the state cannot possibly prove the driver was the offender but since in misdemeanors there is no presumption of innocence, the car owner has to prove their innocence. Which makes a situation where the ticketing authority is basically just randomly fining people for owning a car.

It's no different than issuing tickets to every registered owner whose name begins with "S." Any owner that has no alibi for the named time would be forced to pay the fine, regardless of guilt.

I'm all in favor of law and order, but revenue generation in this manner is an abuse of the legal system. Which is why red light camera ticket systems are struck down every time they are taken to court.

The yellow lights coordinate with the speed limit. IE, 45 mph zone= 4.5 seconds. 25 mph zone= 2.5 seconds. As dumb as this may sound, go check for yourselves. And as far as the stupid camera lights, go fight that ****. I heard theres a good percentage of people winning.

So has anyone ever been pulled over by a helicopter or issued a ticket from that? I know they have signs all over new mexico and some in texas warning of that.. I think thats chicken crap as well.

I don't doubt that, but that's pretty dumb considering it takes 4 times the distance to stop when traveling twice as fast...

Then perhaps the system is somewhat different where you live. I live in TX and when I received a red light ticket, it included a seperate page specifically explaining how the violation captured on camera was reviewed and approved by an officer of my local PD. It included his signature, rank, and badge #

true, but i dont want people to think the yellow light stay lit for 2 seconds when its a 50 mph zone haha. Some said they light was turning red to quick on them.

Here in charlotte nc they dicontinued them due to all the rearend collisions that took place, the insurance companys found a loop in the system and went after the camara company and they went under.

I actually sorta-kinda ran a red light the other day because of that very reason. It was raining and there was a jerk in a BMW riding my bumper. Light changed and there was no way I was gonna slam on brakes. I went under it just as it changed to red. I'll take a ticket over a totalled car any day of the week.

And to clarify, I did not get a caught for this.
