My car intermittently stalls out... i am starting to notice that a lot of us 1999-2001 GT stangers are starting to have these problems. This is a list of things i have done to try and figure my problem out because it is never ending and there is a little twist in my situation.

About a year ago i tried buying some cheap horsepower... it was basically a resister that got inserted into my MAF in order to trick the computer into thinking that it was colder than it really was outside. it sounded legit... more fuel + more air = more power! Well, it seemed like it worked until my car stalled for the first time! after that i took the resister out.

It still stalled out after that intermittently...so i did the following and none of it did a dayum:

-Replaced Fuel pump with new SVT focus fuel pump in case it was startng to go
out on me (more lph's)
-Replaced 6 coil packs because my engine was misfiring...codes were thrown
-Replaced all the sparkplugs
-Fuel filter has about 15000 miles on it so i let that go
-New FMS high performance clutch (AWWWWESOME...when the car doesnt stall)

$1440.00 later...the problem still persists!! so i took it to the Ford Dealer and they hooked up the laptop to run some realtime diagnostics while it was on the road... it refuses to stall while idling...seems to only do it intermittently under load!?!

the techs determined that the PCM needs to be reflashed. I couldnt buy a new PCM through the dealer because ford no longer makes PCM's for the 2000 mustang GT...it is discontinued! I sent my PCM out to Automotive Technologies in florida and got it back about 5 days later....with the same problem. i just blew $265.00 on a reflashed PCM (with a lifetime warranty) and i still have the same problem. sorry for the long post, but i need some help with this... the ford dealer couldnt figure it out and i am sick and tired of borrowing family members cars for days on end! i dont want to go out and buy a beater... i just want to justify spending the money that i already spent! Please help! Thanks in advance!

The resistor that you plugged in at the maf sensor may have slightly bent the terminals in the connector and now aren't contacting properly. they may need to be replaced or rechaped to provide proper tension.

Iac maybe? when i had one go out i also ended up getting a new ford pump put in, how "convenient" does the dealer know the maf was at one point modded?
