Well I want to put a fresh coat of paint on my wiper arms and my cowl. Any advise on the prep work and what paint to use?

Sand them down, clean with some of thinner, let dry, spray with Krylon Semi-Flat Black!
I did it and it looks great!

Duplicolor owns. love all of their products. Just make sure there is no oil on any of the surfaces and that they are smooth!

I always use Duplicolor lacquer flat black and then follow up with a clear coat. If you want the flat black, don't use the clear, it does make it a little more like gloss black. Prep by sanding, clean with tack cloth or solvent. Spray evenly and not too heavy. Lots of layers, take your time, don't try to paint it in one shot. Patience will turn out a nice finish. I have painted my window trim, mirrors, and cowl, lasts way better than the stock plastic finish.
