And i said its for a fan and he looked in teh book and said its for 89-92 mustang elec fan..??? and they had to order it and it was like 50 something $...i thought i just needed a basic relay that splices in...what do they look like? i found something on ebay..would that be good?.....ill attach the link....and how much am i looking at for a 35-40ish amp relay? thanks for any help.

Relay on Ebay

Anthony.

Your best bet would be to go to an audio shop. they usually have tons of stuff like that. I picked up my 80 amp relay from one around me for about $27 i think. I couldve gotten it cheaper online, but i guess it wasnt too bad for a store bought item

NONE of the relays mentioned should be used for the fan - you need a heavy duty relay - find an auto parts store that can supply a Bosch relay #0-332-002-156. I think it's rated at 75 or 80 amps. It will have four terminals. Two for the 75 amp power to go through and two for the coil used to close contacts and send the 75 amps through the relay.

try www.bpg-inc.com - don't know if it's still good but try it. ~$15

TMoss is right on. that is the relay used in the link i gave. price in the article was ~23 bucks, IIRC. you could try calling around for that part number, but dont know what kind of luck you will have. i think the link provides a company and number to call.

also note, as i recall, the coil terminals for THAT relay are not interchangable, IIRC. i.e., 85 = ground;86 = 12volt trigger. you cant interchange them, as you can on a normal SPDT relay. check instructions.
good luck.

so this relay that i have (pic) wont be good even if i have a taurus (less draw) fan and not a mark 8. And everyone that has an electric fan has (or should have) the bosch relay you are describing? (or equivalent contact rating? so worst comes to worst i can use this relay for my foglight rewire.

and how do they work? u just stick the wire thru the posts and find a way to get it to stay? they look liek a PITA to wire up. thanks guys.
EDIT: i wasnt thinking....u most likely use the female connector things right?

They are very simple to wire up. For that relay, you need to use a female spade connector on the end of the wire. Then you just slide it over the terminal. For the larger relay, your probably going to use ring terminals. It would also be a good idea to pick up some shrink tubing so that you can protect your connections from the weather

k thanks.....sorta ignore this pic, its for HISSIN50 to look at for me.

You only ground one part, and thats on the relay. The other post uses 12v. Thats why you need the power from wherever you get it and run it through the switch. Got it?

You could buy a switch that glows up when its on to let you know when your fan is running. If you do get that type of switch, then youd have to ground it. For my 12v source, i found this knife blade fuse holder. You put it in an existing fuse holder and then it gives you an extra one.(2 from one slot) and then you solder or crimp the wire to where you need it
