Remember my little brothers GTi?

Hell no I wouldn't. If I had a brother that did what you're brother did, he would need to sit in jail like a grown up and take his punishment like a man. And you guys wonder why kids are pussies these days.

HAHA funny you say that when i was 14 (im only 17 now) i was arrested for driving without a license and posession of marijuana. I was in jail for 2 nights because my parents thought since i was old enough to be trusted going out with friends i was old enough to suffer my consecuences (sp?) of my actions. I did learn my lesson and i have never touched a drug since. Being in jail sucked thats why if i ever get pulled over for anything i will just pull over. all you guys that run from the cops are just dumb. anyways moral of the story is im actually glad my parents did that to me i learned my lesson and i will never do anything so stupid ever again.

AliateX i hope your brother gets out of it alright and not in to much debt, I really can kinda understand running from the cops for a while but through many towns i think after maybe 1 or 2 i would have given up.

good luck to your brother

damn, i fell sorry for your brother..i ran the other day going 70-80 in a 50, when i passed the cop and he started to turn around i knew it would be a good 30sec before he caught me, so i made a last ditch effort(literally) and almost lost control, but i made it off the highway and down some gravel road where i parked for a few minutes till i figured he was gone..this was in my friends moms 05 mustang(yeah, she didnt know i had it), and bright freakin yellow!

Things I cannot believe..

- People trying to figure out ways to get your brother off the hook
- People saying running from the cops is OK if you can do it
- Thinking a few fines and liscense suspension is harsh enough

no offense to your bro... but a dog will keep pissing on the floor if you just let him.

never ran from a cop. been lectured in a few parking lots about "spinnig your tires" been pulled over once. had plate phoned in and cop come to front door. no tickets yet but ill probably get hit hard one day with one, im probably in the computers with a few warnings.

i have a (spoiled) friend who ran from the fuzz in his 05 sti. got his liscence restricted (work and school) only. he sold the sti and his parents turned around and got him an 05 titan truck. hmmm...

some of my friends at school have launched from a roll to race, seen a cop, saw him get in the turn lane to u turn and come after them and they just hop off the road and burry themselves in a neighborhood which sadly works all too much...

first of all i am glad that no one got hurt. second of all, you could have gotten him out of it. completley. all you had to do would be to get the gti home, get the tint off of it, maybe put the stock wheels back on it, and report it stolen perhaps. maybe this way will teach him more of a lesson, which i think has to do with what your parents are coming from, im not sure if i would want my kid (who i was lividly mad with at the time) to get off the hook with this. id have let him keep his car though.

just get a good laywer and let him get off as easy as he can, now that he has admitted it.

i thought you were gonna say that you flipped the neon and bought the gti as your daily, which sadly, you could do now....

Even if you plead guilty just get a decent lawyer, because its your brothers first charge, the lawyer will have no problem getting most of or all the charges dropped. Even if your brother admitted to being the car in the chase, a lawyer could bring up other things the cops did that were wrong and could get the charges dropped. My buddy was skating and he had a backpack on, the cop ended up searching him and he had a small bag of marijuana and he got arrested. He got a lawyer and he pleaded not guilty, the lawyer proved how it was against his rights to search his backpack and like a week before his court date the lawyer sent him a letter saying the charges were dropped. Everyone in here is a hypocrite, everyone has done dumb things, the important thing is he didnt hurt anyone and to just get him in the clear so everyone can keep living their lives.

Lol so your telling me that if you were doing twice the speed of a cop, with an exit that you could easily get away on, you would pull over and take it? If theres ****load of traffic or I don't have little more then a prayer of getting away I'll pull right over. But if that highways open, and I'm going fast enough where I got a good jump, hell yeah I'm going for it. And don't tell me you won't because you will. I said the same thing you did and I ate my words 2 days after I got my license. Totalled a nice car too.

see my dad said if i **** up...the car get singed over to my sister... :notnice: so yeah...ill say right now..id pull over.....

smart guy ^ :SNSign: take notes

i would do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to get my brother out, or off the hook. It's your brother man!!! I dont know what kind of relationships some of you guys have with your brothers or sisters, but i know that if it were vise versa, mine bro would never leave me in (well unless it was for murder or something sick) jail especially if they could help it. Speaking as a person who has seen the back of squad cars a few times, hope your brother is all good man

I wish I could ban people from posting in my threads.

****ing thank you, some of you must not have brothers or something. Its not like your brother is just one of your friends or something "oh hell learn his lesson" your supposed to always have your brothers back unless youre a douchebag.

its not about having ur brothers back.. its about sticking up for his best interest.

Scenario.

Find ur lil bro is doing drugs.. he gets caught but u get him out of it.
Next week, he dies of an over-dose.

Why? Because he didnt learn anything from that. All he found out was that he can get away with stuff with no consequences.

Its about caring for ur brother like he was your child. Punishment enforces better behavior. Getting him out of trouble is like rewarding him for such actions. Its only gonna lead to an attidude that thinks he can get away with stuff which will eventually come back and hurt him in some way or another.

Dont think I dont have brothers... ive got 3.

They are 20, 11, and 1.

You better believe I chew my 20 year old brother out when I see him messing with herpie infested women.. and I give the 11 year old a good ole punch in the shoulder we he lets an f-bomb slip. If I see the 1 year old chewing on some eletrical wire, hell yea im gonna spank him. Electricity doesnt mess around, neither do i.

Thinking that you are your little brother's parent is where people are so wrong. Your parents are your brothers parents, not you. Your not supposed to be the one to scold him, yeah you can say hey man your ****ing up you shouldnt be doing that, but if you turn your back on your brother like that when he gets into serious trouble, as is mine now, do you think he will confide/trust in you again? I think not.

And thats a good point.

I guess its just the "older" brother in me and the fact I pretty much took care of those kids by myself at times.

Just watch yourself though.. there is a fine line between helping bro's out of trouble and being an accomplice.

so you're saying leave him in jail for a night or two and he wont oversode next week?

You dont really have an argument, maybe thats something you're brother would do, but if my brother gets arrested and I bail him out the same day, id realize hes not a retard. I sit down and talk to him, try to figure out what he did, and why he did it, and I would try everything I could to help him get out of it, while still showing him what he did was wrong, but it was just a dumb mistake.

I was saying the harsher punishment will inflict more thought into his actions. Keeping him out of jail tells him he can continue doing drugs without any more consequence than his brother yelling at him. Oh boy, he's really in trouble now.

Just play the probability game man. Honestly, did you learn more when ur mom said "stop that or ur grounded" or did the sound of dads belt being pulled through the loops get ur attention more?

Lets just make this straight, I am in no way saying a brother shouldn't help his siblings out. I'm just trying to say the one should actually make sure that punishments are taken as they are intended and not dodged.

uhhhh thats a whole other topic to be discussed.....but going by the point youre making, why not give him a fork while hes sitting next to an electrical outlet. Thatll teach him.

I learned from my experiences with the cops, a couple months ago.....

I could actually see this situation( car chase) happen with my little brother. Hes just getting his permit, and if he got jailed I sure as hell would try and bail him out. Then I would bring him home and kick the **** out of him, then tell him to stop ****ing around cuz its gonna be a lot worse next time. I know all three of my brothers would do the same with me, especially my oldest.

I must say that I am surprised by ALOT of comments on this thread :nonono: . Many people seem to believe that running from 6 police cars through 9 cities is just a "mistake" IMO There is a BIG difference between the mistake of running a stop sign and something as serious as FELONY Evasion. Shrugging off what he did as just a mistake is just plain ridiculous

Also, I'm pretty sure at his age (unless he is seriously retarded) he KNEW that he basically had no chance of evading 6 police cars. IMO the only way he will ever learn his lesson is if sees the inside of a jail cell for a while.

It also seems that those who have sympathy for him are ones who have been arrested or have gotten into serious trouble with the law in the past and I can understand that they may not view Felony Evasion as a big deal :rlaugh: .

BTW I am not saying that I am perfect either. I have sped before (Thank God no tickets). However, I would NEVER even think of doing something as stupid as comitting a felony.

True. But you also got to understand this kid IS 17. I mean im 20, not a lifetime apart, but when i think back to how imature i was, the way i acted, and the kind of **** i did back then:nonono: . Get ready for a LONG ASS but funny story, when i was 16-17 the thing i loved to do was test drive cars. And by testdrive i mean drive THE PISS out of them. Me and a buddy used to go testdrive stuff that i would never be able to even sit in otherwise. 911 turbos, vettes, mach1s, cobra, ws6s, etc. Some creative storytelling and compelling phonecalls usually landed us out by ourselves in these cars and from then on you can just imagine a couple of 16 year olds in 400hp cars. Well one day, out raping on a LS2 goat, a guy from the dealership randomly drives by and catches us doing donuts in a parking lot a few miles off. He pulls over starts giving us ****, obviously like a dumbass i give him the bird drop a gear and take off. We pull back into the dealership and half of the damn staff is outside waiting for us. Mind you i was a hell of smartass back then, i get out throw the keys amidst the MANY yelling employees while me and my friend hop in my car and burn off. Takes a couple of hours before the dealership guys start calling my house demanding money for the CRAZY damage i caused to the car (they say 5k worth). I didnt know a paif of KDWs cost 5k so I tell them to go suck a lemon, as do my parents (not before giving me the ass whooping of my life). Well, a month later, forgetting all about the incident, i get pulled over for a LICENSE plate frame (illegal in houston). The officer gets out and starts acting like a real dick. So i open my smartass mouth and start shooting off comments. At this point 2 more cop cars arrive. The officers get out drawing guns, run up and throw me outa the car. Im thinking i must be on a damn tv show cause this **** is unbelievable for a license plate frame. Well needless to stay after i told the dealership to **** off they beat the car with a bat and called the cops saying i returned the car that way. The cops immeadiatly issued a felony warrant (damages over 2500 are a felony) for my arrest. No one contacts me so when i get pulled over and start mouthing off the cop calls for back up to bag my ass. 20 hours in jail later and i start learning my lesson. Then came the 6k in lawyer fees, NUMEROUS appearances in court, and i started realizing what a dumbass i was. I ended up getting the felony dropped to a class A misdemeanor and getting 2 years probation along with some hefty community service and fines. All for something i really didnt do. It was like god got tired of my **** and decided to punish me for all the times i got away with it. My point is, people do some stupid **** without thinking of consequences. One day you wake up and you just grow up.

That was an interesting story. How was the dealership able to prove that you caused the damage ? They would also have to commit purjury in court which is a serious crime.

BTW. I'm 19 and I never did **** that crazy when I was 16-17. Infact, I never got into any trouble with the cops. I dunno, I must be wierd or something

IMO at 17 I believe that you are old enough to know the consequences of you actions.

they couldn't, thats just the point, thats why the DA dropped it from a felony to a misdemeanor. I couldn't prove my side either, its very difficult to believe a pair of 16 year olds over half the dealership staff which "claimed" the car returned in that condition. I was at my final motion setting when i finally decided i didnt want to risk it. I mean i knew it was a bull**** case but im not gonna gonna put my entire future in jeopardy, so my lawyer did what he could to keep it out of trial.

and to make **** worse my insurance company IS SO ****ING stupid, when they went to look at the car they wrote the dealership a check on the spot without consulting me whatsoever. Which if they brought it up in court is like an admission of guilt on my part. so i got :owned:
