Anybody remember the Mustang Boss10? It was built in 94 to go against GMs Toy Box devision. One of the magazines I read back the requested Ford and GM to build their best beast for top speed and quarter mile no holds barred N/A muscle. Ford kicked major ass that day.
I cant find the article and cant remember which magazine did the test. Id like to find it because I remember a quote " at 232 mph the car was still accelerating so ferociously we got scared and let off"
This car was the ultimate Stang IMO. Someone offered them $250000 at the track for it and they said no its a one off factory car. Does anyone remember that article and help me find it?
It was an all aluminium 610ci OHV V-8
The Z28 Chevy built could only manage low 2's for 0-60 :rlaugh:

Hell yes, that was my growing up Mustang idol... holy crap.

That car is just amazing, I remember watching old school Car & Driver (IIRC) on Speed watching them run the 2 cars...

CAR & DRIVER! Thanks mang :hail2: I could not remeber for the life of me  It was 14 years ago when I read that but it always stuck with me :nice:

It was OHV not DOHC. It was a beast and it's still around. Ford still uses it for the show circuit.

If I remember it beat GM's ZL-1 Camaro which was powered by a 7.0L V8 with 600hp.
Thanks again, I always thought OHV but when I just found the pics I thought it looked like a cammer

Yeah I definatly wont forget that one.

I have an old issue of MotorTrend that basically revealed the 03/04 Cobra around 2000/2001 also. It was an old issue, they had two versions. A N/A 5.4 I think, and the SC 4.6... we see which one prevailed, lol.

Over the years I try to collect old mags. like that because it is pretty cool to see the "concepts" and see what actually does or does not come out of them.

I can say Ford has used a good bit of concept car material to design/improve/create newer models.

Nice old classic engine with a face lift :nice: That burn out was dissapointing. First no tracloc then the fire, I was thinking no way they would do it to that car. I wonder if that was just a replica

I dunno what was up with the initial one wheel peel. Probaly still using the t-lok (pos, lol) and it was on its last legs.

Once the smoke started rolling it was good though.

It sounded to nasty to be anything but that big a motor though.

This was like 10 years ago.

The Mustang has a 3 speed auto and runs 10.55's. There is no way in hell that car would make it to 235mph, not to mention, it doesnt have the aerodynamics to make it to 235 even if it had the gear ratio to put it there.

why is it called the boss 429 if it is 610ci? only thing i can imagine is if it bored and stroked like crazy.
It was a NASCAR 249 block punched to 602 I think. In the original test they said 610 but I just found it differently

I tottaly agree with you and thats why I wana find the article cause I may be way wrong. But when I talked to dad about it he said he remembers that same quote when I showed him the mag when I was still a teenager. I do remember it was some super shallow gear but even a 2.54 with 27" tires and a 1:1 in third the speed would be 229 roughly at 7200 red line. So I am prolly just demented.
But again thats why I want the article so I could see what it really was. :nice:

I have that issue of Motor Trend. It was a blue stang with a 5.4 and a box molded in the hood where the 5.4 sticks out. It made more power than the s/c 4.6, which was a 2 tone red/ white.
