Remove Knee Bolster for Sequential Tail Lights

Hi All,

We are attempting to install the sequential tail lights and have to remove the knee bolster to change out a module under the steering wheel. My son has removed four bolts and we cannot figure out how to get that thing off ... any help would be greatly appreciated!

4 bolts? Mine only had two, one on the left at the bottom, one at the right on the bottom. Then it was held on by 3 metal retainer clips, just give it a good tug at the far right top, far left top, and just to the left of the steering column at the top of the panel.

Are you sure you're removing the right piece? The module should be bright yellow and is attached to a piece of metal directly to the left of radio. The knee bolster you need to remove is the piece that you would hit with your knees sitting in the seat if you raised them straight up.

EDIT: I completed this install about 5 1/2 hours ago so it's pretty fresh in my mind

Thanks ... yes, there were four bolts ... two for the plastic bolster and two for the metal thing underneath. I don't know what my husband did, but he finally got it off. Now my son tried to force the module out without releasing the clip ... I guess I better go back up and "supervise"! I appreciate your help and if they still can't do it, I'll be back to ask for your help!!

lol I didn't realize you could take the metal piece out so I had to do some acrobatic Matrix style moves to get to the module, good luck

Which kit did you get btw?

Screw taking stuff apart, just stick your head by the pedals.

Yeah, my husband was pretty frustrated by the time he got the module out ... he was more upset when he realized he really didn't need to take the bolster out to remove the module! It was a whole lot easier for my 15 year old to bend himself into a position to get to the module, but he couldn't figure out how to get it out and I didn't want anything broken. But, it's done!

I had the same problem. I couldn't get the module off and I didn't know where the knee bolster was.


But my friend got it done.
