My friend just added a new driveshaft, and i helped him. He wants to lose some weight on the car so i took of the dogbone. He still has 2.73s but is getting 3.73s in a month or so. Is it safe to drive without the dogbone with 2.73s?

Right where the driveshaft bolts up to the pinion yoke on the rear. There should be a U shaped weight on the bottom side of the rear diff case. Theres two bolts that hold it on and have rubber damping in them.
I ditched mine when I still had the 3.08s and still had the original stock driveshaft 2 years ago when i bought my car and it was fine.. Stupid thing weighs around 8 LBs
steve, thanks. me no got one of dose.
so does the dogbone rotate with the driveshaft? i have one on another car, but it is actually on the front of the driveshaft - (it rotates) to quell vibs. interesting.
Nope, it bolts to the differential casing... actaully the bolts run through the diff housing and theres a threaded bracket on the top side and then the dogbone on the bottom half... but it doesnt move at all.
ok, Steve, that is what i thought you described in the first post. my prior experience with one on the spinning assembly made me wonder. thanks so much. still dont think i have one on the vert.
thanks again!
