i'm trying to remove my crank pulley but i cant figure out how to loosen the bolt without turning the engine over...

anyone have any tips on how to stop the engine from turning?

I put a new HB on my 4.6L 2v engine. I used an impact gun to zip the bolt out. Then I just used an Autozone 16.99 HB puller. When I reinstalled it, I just GENTLY tapped the new HB on the end of teh crank and then put the bolt in, gently squeezing the trigger on the impact gun. The bolt touches the HB and keeps it square with the crank, so you don't damage anything. I put a touch of antiseeze on the bolt....not a gob, just a touch.

I would use an impact if I were you. Using the braker bar method requires puting the stress through the internals of the driveline. It also beats up the starter.

Impact off, impact on. Nothing is easier. Removing the fan takes like 3 seconds.

i tried every way i could think of with a breaker bar but the bolt always won:shrug:

so after my air compressor was too much of a b**** to power an air impact i bought an electric one and it did trick, but my aftermarket fan doesn't unbolt so i had to remove the radiator to get it in there. which is only two bolts so its all good.

thanks for the help :nice:
