Removing/Installing Fuel Line

Any tips for removing / installing a new fuel line (hard) in a '65 Coupe.
I've got all the clips removed and the line unhooked from the drivers inner fender. I've also disconnected it from the fuel tank. I can't work out how to wiggle out the old line out. I'm doing this without a lift. I could cut the old one out but then how do I wiggle the new one in..............

I can't really help you because the only fuel lines I have removed from cars are from cars that were completely cannibalized (back in the 80s). Most of them were 1967s and 1968s too.

Support the car by the frame so that the rear suspension hangs down all the way. Then after that, its just a matter of playing with it till you get the old one out and the new one it.

The main problem that I have is that the PO installed a Ford 9 inch rear end and just in front of the gas tank, running from one side of the car to the other is a steel brace. The brace is intended to reinforce the chassis where the shocks are connected to it. The fuel line passes under the brace on the passenger side and I can't see how to remove it. Is this brace stock . I'll try and get a photo soon.

I don't know about 65, but in 67 the instalation is straightforward, just bend it a little, in worst case remove shock, or cut the line in half and install there a generic fuel filter if you really don't have patience.

Working under a car is a mess. I have similar experience (installing an custom-made exhaust system). Now I know why flowmaster can still sell at their prices.

Attached is a photo of the brace I was talking about. The fuel line goes under the brace.

Based on that picture, It appears as though you can unbolt the brace and pull it down to create enough room to pull the line out. But I haven't looked at mine yet so idk

I will be doing this down the road so Keep us informed please.
