Hello,

I purchased a new head unit and subs for my 2000 mustang. I did all my research and got all the needed parts but I can not get either the radio or cd player units out of my car. I purchesed the DIN tools to remove the radio, but the damn things wont come out! If anyone else had this problem, could you give some tips?

Also, on the topic of hooking up the subs. Do I just hook the subs strait into the new head unit, or do I hook them up as if I was using the stock Mach 460 head unit (using the procedure described on this, and many other web sites)?

Thanks so much!!!!

The units will come out, read my other thread about removing the slave cd player below the head unit. Once you get the head unit out remove the whole dash assembly by unbolting it from the firewall, this will make it easier to remove the slave cd player while its still attached. Make sure the keys are pushed in all the way and also that the bezel isn't stopping the head unit from being pulled straight out. They can be very very very hard to get out, try grabbing a friend to help you. Good luck

the factory subs, will not work unless you use a amp intergrated harness. or you can bypass the factory amps but you still wont have a factory sub.

No don't use that harness because it is not correct. Refer to my tutorial where each step is outlined and the radio is documented as working after the install. I own a 99-00 and I PERSONALLY (along with 2 other owners) did this install and that parts I listed are correct. Stop confusing people with your misinformation.

The harness is

sorry but my information is not wrong, i used to wire car stereos professionally and I have a great deal of experience with the mustangs.

the 70-5521 works just fine if you know what you are doing. you apparently don't otherwise it would have worked for you.

now please stop telling me I am wrong when I have over 50 installs on mach 460 systems in the mustang alone (not to mention how many I have in Explorers).

i have done at least 12 99-00 mustangs. sorry you have no idea what you are doing.

That harness simply is not correct for the 99-00's. I must know what I am doing because almost 1000 people have read my tutorial and the information contained within the tutorial is a collaboration from 2 other 99-00 mustang owners whose mustangs also work perfectly. Your harness may work with some modification but that wasn't the purpose of my tutorial. I made the tutorial as a clear and concise method of installation a non-professional could accomplish in less than an hour with the end result being a perfectly working stereo. If your method works than thats great, just don't post information that isn't clearly explained into my thread. How you would like it if you spent the time to make a thread listing part numbers and pictures and then some guy comes along and lists parts you know for a fact don't work? I want my thread to fix confusion not create it.
