My passenger side scoop has never been completely attached to the car.. The double-sided tape did not stick very well from the factory... (from Ford, not Shelby.. so no Shelby GT bashing )..

Rather than go the dealership route (they CANNOT "re-tape" the scoop, they have to order another, and paint it, which means leaving the car there overnight ), I bought some 3M tape (at an auto paint store) and some wax/grease remover spray...

So, since the scoop is already hanging off about halfway, can I just finish pulling it off? I know there are two plastic "pins" that are still holding it on..

Do I need to go in from the other side??

Any other advice??

Thanks.

i assume the plastic retaining clips are similar to the ones used on the truck wheel flares. you would be best off to go from the inside. remove the 1/4 trim panel, and you should be able to see them, and how they come off.

for the cleaning and retape, use the wax/grease remove and soak the tape. use a razor blade perpendicular to the part and scrpae it off. this prevents you frim cutting into the scoop accidentally. once its all cleaned up, use some 3M adhesion promoter. it comes in a small package and its a wipe. wipe it on where you are gonna put the tape. let it dry, and then apply the tape. this will help make sure that the tape sticks to the part REALLY GOOD. i have cleaned and retaped hundreds of mouldings, and have never had a comeback. this procedure will work.

You wouldn't happen to know how to pull off the interior panels, would you?

its been a long time since i have pulled them, so im not 100%. i think jenn has a link for them though. pull the rear seat bottom out. there are 2 plastic clips that hold it in, just push them in, and pull up. i believe they are 8-12" in from the edges of the seat. there should be a plastic christmas tree style clip on the front edge of the seat riser where it drops down into the footwell. i think you also need to pull up the door sill plate. that should just pop up with a little effort. once these are out of the way, i think the rest is self explanatory, but like i said, its been a while. jenn will be away for a few more days, so she may not reply right away to this thread if she has a link to the PDF.

Hey Guys,

I'm back from another 2,500 mile trek across the US. Almost 10,000 miles in less than a month. CRAZY!

1965Coupe - Email me from outside the Stangnet server @ Jenns05Stang@sbcglobal.net and I'll send you the PDF if you have not figured it out already.

They are push style clips, just pull it off the rest of the way. The clips may break, but that's normal.

Are the clips pretty standard as far as Ford hardware?

I don't know if I can pick them up in town, or if they need to be ordered...

Another thing I've found that works is once the scoop is ready to go back on the car, put it in front of a heat source and get it warm and put a hair dryer to the car to heat up the paint surface. After it's stuck on continue to apply pressure around the taped perimeter until it cools down.
