I just ordered some new LEDs for the Cluster but I cant figure out how to remove the setup ...anyone have a write up!! Im at work and very bored and need a project this week !
check the ultimate sticky, and look for anthony's cluster swap. i believe he tells you how to pull it out. i have had mine out, but dont recall the exact steps to do it.
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
Remove the floor console.
Remove the 2 scuff plates.
Remove the 2 A-pillar lower trim panels.
NOTE: On coupe, install the front locating hook, then snap the A-pillar trim panel in place working rearward. Remove the 2 A-pillar trim panels.
Remove the instrument cluster.
CAUTION: Do not allow the steering column to rotate while the steering column shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring can result. If there is evidence that the steering column shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and recentered. Secure the steering wheel, remove and discard the bolt, and separate the steering column shaft from the steering column.
To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) .
On the LH side disconnect the instrument panel bulkhead electrical connector and remove the instrument panel support bolt.
To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) .
On the RH side disconnect antenna in-line connector and the 4 instrument panel harness electrical connectors.
Remove the 2 instrument panel center support screws.
Remove the 3 instrument panel center support bolts.
To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) .
Through the instrument cluster opening, loosen the instrument panel cowl top bracket nut.
Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) .
Remove the 2 instrument panel lower support bolts.
To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) .
Remove the 2 instrument panel end panels.
Remove the 4 instrument panel upper support bolts.
To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) .
NOTE: Two technicians are necessary to carry out this step. Remove the instrument panel.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE: Prior to removal of the instrument cluster, it is necessary to upload the instrument cluster configuration information to the diagnostic tool. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
NOTE: The instrument cluster finish panel is held in place with retaining clips that are attached to the bezel. Remove the instrument cluster finish panel.
Remove the 4 screws and the instrument cluster.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Download the instrument cluster configuration information from the diagnostic tool into the new instrument cluster.
If you have tilt steering, tilt the wheel all the way down and then with a quick jerk just pull the cluster bezel out. From there the cluster unbolts, unplugs and slides out. This whole process only takes about 5 minutes.
I removed my '06 cluster to install white face gauges. It was very easy and I didn't have to upload any info, I just installed the white faces and re-installed. No sweat.
