Removing the rear medallion

Has anyone done this and if so is there any holes or other type things located underneatth the medallion that might preclude me from taking it off?

I have not removed mine, but I have seen others do it and yes, there are 2 holes behind it. I have changed out my fender emblems, and they also have 2 holes behind them as well.
