Its going to cost more than its worth to you, and decrease the value of your car considerably since in only an '02. Sell or trade your car in for one in the color you want, it will be better in the long run.
Good shop can be a good 6500-7000, I have a guy local around here that does all his own work great job, full car done for around 2500 bucks. He has done my Old 77 Rivera, and my buddies 96 TA, both look flawless.
It's not worth it if you want it done right. They will charge you an arm and a leg for the door jams. You could say screw it but the door jams will be a diff. color from the outside of the car. What's wrong with the color you have now?
find a top notch painter that does his work solo, out of work. I am getting my 2002 gt vert with full saleen bodykit repainted due to getting keyed like crazy and my extremely poor paintjob on the bodykit. I am paying him $2800 to repaint the whole car in black..but not just any black. Mercedes Benz Crystal Mclaren. same black that comes on the SLR, and only the SLR. it has little white crystals and though the car is black, it can look 3 different colors. A job like this would cost atleast 5-6k at a bodyshop so find your own man. My paint works at mercedes of palm beach and is the *BEST* painter there.
I bought my car black. It was from New York City and has scratches ALL over the place, there's probably over a hundred. It looks good at night and from far away though
What would it set me back to get it repainted the factory black? Would I be safe doing it myself with minimal auto painting experience?
Ohhhh... You know how some "ricers" have those pearlescent paint jobs? (My friend does.) Anyway, wouldn't that be sick if you had it changing colors from black to silver? I couldnt find any paints like that, they're all just blue to orange and green to red, all of which look silly to me.
I have no idea how to photoshop a pearlescent paint job, but if anyone can, feel free to make a mustang (or any car) with black to silver pearlesccent.
For my old Explorer I was quoted 3500 to repaint the same color(Black) and 6000 to change the color(True Blue). It might be a little less for a Mustang. Don't forget the time it would take to paint it. They told me it would take 1 month for the same color.
