2001 SVT Cobra Decision Time

Newbee here. Would welcome your input regarding a fork in the road with my Cobra.: Should I invest or Divest?

Original owner
160,000 miles
Florida car for 23 years
Runs like a charm
Interior in VGC
Clean Carfax, no accidents

Needs:
Convertible top
Repainting (Mineral Gray)
New tires and rim polishing
Engine bay cleaning/beautification

Looking at going prices for 2001 Cobras, I'm not sure whether to go balls out with a restoration ($$$) is the best path, or to sell it and move on.

I'm glad to join StangNet and would appreciate your thoughts.

Welcome to :SN:!!

I agree - replacing the top would be the best thing to give it new life and is really just the cost of admission for owning a vert. Honestly, everything you listed is the price of admission for owning a car for that long.

If you're looking at it as an investment - cars are horrible investments. If that's the case and you're not in love with your car, it may be time to step away and find something else.

How bad is the paint? Can it be ‘corrected’ or does it need an actual paint job?

As other have said get the top done no matter what. That alone will make a big difference in the look of the car.

For the wheels just find someone selling some aftermarket wheels online for cheap and keep your OEMs and fix them up later or something.
