I have a 1999 Cobra coupe with the Mach 460 system and currently both the rear speakers are working. The two in the front doors and the two tweeters are gone. My question is should I just replace the front speakers, how much?, and where? or should I replace the whole thing. I am not interested in spending much more then $500. Any advice would be great! thanks for your time

They will be comming out of my 95 gt with 74k miles, i dont abuse the system because it just doesn't sound right when you push it too hard. Let me know if you're interested.

If you don't want to spend more than $500 you should just replace them with new or used Mach460 speakers. There aren't a lot of speakers that will work with the mach amps. Given that both of your fronts are gone I'm wondering if the problem is your amps and not your speakers. You may want to take it to a local stereo shop and they can check the electrical signals (my shop charges $45 for diagnostic). This way you don't blow a bunch of money on new speakers only to find out that you don't need new speakers, but new Mach amps.

I've got a couple of sets of Mach460 speakers amps and tweeters and I'd be happy to sell you whatever you need for a good price. They are out of my 2000 GT and were only used for about a year and were never turned up very loud (my sister was driving it for that period and she doesn't like loud music). She sold me the car after that and I pulled the mach stuff out (its been sitting in boxes in my closet since then). Anyways send me a private message if you are interested.

thanks guys

i actually did bring it someplace but they were not very smart.
I suggested to them that I was not sure if the speakers were gone or if the amps were gone. they were trying to do me a favor but in actuality they had to learn as they went, luckily in the end they did not charge me.
However, I did learn that I simply have no speakers up front, the person before me must have ripped them out when they took out their setup. The guys at the shop did not know how to test the amps without charging me for taking stuff apart and running tests, so I left with what knowledge I did pick up before it got worse!
So now I am ghetto style with just the rear speakers turned up and for now I am happy with the sound so I think I would be impressed with just putting the original speakers back in the front.

Is there a way to test the amp at all?
If not, where can I go to test it for $45?

I think I would like to buy a set of the front two speakers and tweeters if someone is willing to sell them to me or if your gonna just through them away...! hehe. Thanks guys again for the help!

Also would that suggestion work to just buy a set of 6x8's compenents for $120 for the front with the Mach 460 setup?

you can purchase new 6x8 (5x7's) but it's gonna be hared to find something compatible... Mach system runs at 2 ohms on impedience, most aftermarket speakers and amps run a 4 ohms.... I will be parting out my mach system i have 2 sets of tweeters and 2 sets of 5x7's... PM me and let me know if your interested
