Replace Shocks & Struts?

I'm getting ready to do a bunch of maintenance on my 05 GT because I'll be hitting the 100K mark any day now. One of the things on the list is new shocks & struts, but I'm not sure if I need them. I don't see any obvious leaks, and they don't have any extra bounce. The driving has been mostly pretty smooth highway. I don't hear or feel anything that might signal a bad shock/strut. So what do you think? I've been told that they go bad slowly over time, but how can you tell how bad they are?
I've experienced cars that bounce excessively because of bad shocks, but like I said, if I push down on any corner of the car it just rebounds right back up with no bouncing.

Like they say "if it aint broke dont fix it"
You could always go with some adjustables for a different feel for diferent
conditions.

I changed the struts & shocks on my '06 GT 'vert to Koni STR.Ts along with GT500 upper strut mounts. Great results. Car drives & handles like a dream. I used my OE springs.

Wouldn't be a bad idea, just think of how many time your shocks & struts osillate over the course of 100,000 miles, they do eventually wear out.

+1 on the koni str.t's I have the stock springs in front and roush in back with str.t's all around. Found this to be a decent combo for both ride and handling.

Most stock Shocks & Struts are worn out at about 60,000 mile. You will notice the difference with new ones!!

Thanks for the responses.
The Mustang is my daily commuter car, so I'm not going to spend extra $$$ for Koni's. I've got other toys to spend "fun" money on, so I'll probably buy some KYBs (for 1/2 the price of the Koni's).

There are two ways to look at it. Your daily commuter car is something you use EVERY DAY, why not spend a couple of bucks more and make every day more enjoyable while you drive. Also, Konis will probably last the life of your car. Just a thought.

Honestly if the stock dampers seem to be OK then I wouldn't waste the money on replacing them for a preventative maintenance thing. Now with that being said, the stock dampers preform fairly poor in terms of ride and performance even when new.

I did a fair amount of research on the subject when I lowered my car with Steeda Ultra-Lite springs, and ended up going with the Koni Str.t's like others have recommended. I couldn't be happier, the car handles better and rides better than stock to boot. I was thinking about the KYBs due to cost, but found in my research that KYBs didn't get the best reviews do to poor performance on lowered cars and quality. Koni on the other hand has very good quality and a excellent warranty.

My advice is to buy the Koni Srt.t's and enjoy a better ride and handling or leave the stock shocks in place. If you would like more info on the subject check out the handling forum over at mustangforums.com. There is a lot of info on the subject.
