Okay mine is giving me some grief. Half the times I turn it on, I get a loud buzz. I have to turn it off for like a day for it to go away. Everything I read says that the whole setup has to be yanked to get anything new in. i.e. You can't use a new speakers with the stock head unit, can't use any of the existing wiring to install new stuff due to the way the amps control the different speakers -blah blah.

Who here has replaced their whole Mach 460? I have read that it's quite a task to take the whole thing out of the car.

From what I know, that BZZ sound that goes along with your RPMs? Is a lose ground in one of your speakers. You shouldn't need to replace your whole system to get rid of it...
someone once told me it was their driver's side door speaker.
I have the BZZ sound now too... and will shortly be getting rid of it
:nice:

I replaced mine....its not hard. Well i guess it depends on how great of detail u go. I just yanked the rear "boom" box basically. I then re-ran all the speaker wire through the car to the new radio and amps. That was it.

Caldwell - Hey it is RPM dependent. I will pull the door panels off to see if I can find it. Thanks

nmcgrawj - How did you run the speaker wire to the door speakers? I couldn't figure out how to get the wire into the rubber loom that goes into the door. Also, how did you tap for power with the new head unit, I think the Mach460 has a different pin-out than the regular head unit? Thanks

Is the buzz in one speaker or all speakers?

If it is in all speakers, it is most likely it is in the stereo and not the speakers. The stereo and CD player Suck! I bought a CD/MP3 player and a conversion box, the stereo speakers run through the mach amps and sound great.

I just checked. It's both door speakers. What's up is it the deck or just both speakers?

Pull the stereo with the funky "U" pullers and check the connectors. Otherwise, take a few hours and pull the face and do a step by step diagnostic of the radio. Worst case scenerio, Repacle the head unit. $5 says that'll fix it.

i traced down all the factory wiring, cut the harness behind the radio, and used factory wiring from speakers up to the harness....... then i hooked the factory wires up to the new speakers in the rear pod, and the ones in the doors, and used my stereos 4 channes to run my full range speakers, ran a set of RCA cables for my high speakers, (small amp) and another set to my subwoofer amp, You can pick apart the harnesses, get the wires you need, and then just remove the amps, cause you won't need the factory ones....... I used the black pod from the mach 460, with my 6x8's, and it made them sound MUCH better than just mounting them in the rear deck....

just my .02

I didn't have a mach stereo in my GT, but I still had the amp that's mounted to the tranny hump under the tape and cd deck. When I put in my Pioneer, I found that the regular Ford radio harness was actually mounted to the right hand wall in the console approximately through the plastic where the passenger's left knee is. Now I just need to remove that useless amp. . .

Hope this helps.

is it possible for me to just buy the bottom portion of the mach 460, the cd player, sometimes mine will not eject a CD or it wont stop/play a CD, just makes the weird eject CD noises constantly, very annoying
My CD deck was doing the exact same thing. That's why I ditched it. Besides, I don't use cassettes any more and where the factory CD player was will make for a good place to put an aftermarket oil pressure and coolant temp gauge.

If you just want to swap it for a better working one, I've seen several of them on Ebay.

Just the bottom portion? where do they sell new ones? or new mach 1000's, ford dealership only?
