Ok, I am planning to change my differential this weekend, and while I have the axles pulled out I thought it would probably be a good Idea to replace the axle bearings. I read my haynes manual and my 72 Shop manual, and they both talk about spliting the retainer with a cold chisle and needing a press to remove and install the bearings, which I don't have. It that really necessary can I do it without the press, should I get my mechanic to do it or should I talk to him to see if Ican use the shop and get him to walk me through it?
Thanks
