replacing clutch

no offense or nothing mob but ur posting alot for not knowing much

read up on things get a full engine encyclepedia
rebuild cars with friends

hand on experience

u seem like u have a want for car knowledge and im not sure a forum is the best way to get the knowledge you'll get alot of bull****,flames,people who dont know what there talking about and get caught up in name calling etc.....

hands on experience is the best way IMO or go to a local library get a car encyclepedia that shows every aspect of a car how a transmission works, Functions of a clutch, you will see the advantages of porting certain items in like some of your other posts, and other things

I am no expert but i have basic knowledge ive rebuilt legend cars and ive raced them for a while , with that ive replaced clutches, been under cars, saw how everything functions and all the good stuff

not flaming you or making fun i am not a big fan of that just giving you my opinion

yeah, you should be able to do that in 5 hours if you know what you are doing and there are absolutely no hang-ups. but someone who knew how to do it wouldnt post a question on how to do it. it will probably take most of the day for someone who has never done it before because it will be mostly trial and error to see what needs to come off to get the trans out of the car

Get someone strong to help you if you are going to be doing it under the car, it can be done in a couple hours.I wouldn't buy the king cobra, it is just 10% lighter than the one i have now, $160 off of summit, and unless you can't handle it, it a waste of money. The clutches much like transmissions have torque capacities. If you want an easier clutch, hydrolic(different car) or im sure you can buy one somewhere that is easier, but probably thinner. Also, adjustable clutch cables are good if you want it to grab lower.

as far as i know, they are a length of header or a slang term for the fairer gender.

i dont know man. it seems like we are the only people on here ever late at night though, haha. you should come to the stangnet chat sometime man...we have a blast. theres a link at the top by 'galleries' if you didnt see it.

ive wondered about it (chat) but have not done it. im super stupid with puters and i think i once looked, but was leary of DL'ing whatever the puter prompted me that i would need to DL to get in there. the virus thing from a little bit ago scared me even more.

ill try again and check it out. been having probs with the 94 camaro, so ive been in other forums lately, anyhow.

thank you for the invite. ill get in there one of these days to see what you guys are up to.

If we're going to be so precise/concise, it would appear that every entry on this post is quite legible. Some seem to be lacking in the grammar dept. Why bust balls about grammer and spelling? As long at the point is made, who cares? Did you ever think that of the 50000+ members on Stangnet, it's possible that maybe one or 2 aren't the most 'educated' individuals in the world? Some of the best mechanics I know never went beyond 10th grade. Does that mean they shouldn't be on here giving help where they can? BS like this is why a lot of people don't even bother with the boards.

I thought that's what he meant, but I couldn't figure out how that related to a clutch replacement . As a matter of fact, I still haven't

You may want to consider replacing the pilot bearing also. The local Autozone here has the tool to remove it with in their loaner box. If that's not available to you, use a 1/4 drive socket with an extension put in through the hex end. Fill the end of the crank & bearing with grease and then you can pound the socket into the bearing. It's a PITA this way, but it gets the job done. Size your socket up first so you don't end up with a handful of greasy ones.

It took me about 40 minutes to install the pilot bearing, flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, upload the transmission and bolt it to the bellhousing. I didn't have an alignment tool so I put a metal tube in the car to hold the clutch in and the transmission went into postition without too much trouble.

Worst part might be to take down the H-pipe and transmission crossmember, or the stubborn driveshaft bolts!!! I have to take mine apart again because I installed a used clutch for the time being :/
