Ive got a short in my Ecu. I found a new one on ebay, same code as my original. Is it just a matter of unplugging the old one and replacing it with the new one?
Someone had told me i would have to reset the pats system, is this true? Its the exact same computer. By the way my ride is a 01 gt.

it will swap in, but the pats system could very well give you trouble, basically the car will crank and everything, but it will not let it turn over if that is the problem, not much of a big deal if you know someone with the equipment to fix it. however, my ecu i used was from a different year car with a manual tranny, whereas mine was an auto and a 2001. you might get lucky and not have to do anything but plug it in if its exact, but i think it the trouble comes in when you unplug yours and it thinks its getting jacked.... correct me if im wrong though.

How do you know you have a short in your ECU? That seems highly unlikely.
