Replacing gaskets! need help buying new ones

Alright guys...im going to be replacing all my intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and maybe head gaskets...
what kind and where can i buy the best ones..or quality ones that will make a good seal....ill just order them offline..
i might get a new intake..which comes with new gaskets..but shoudl i use them?

Felpro makes good gaskets. I get all my gaskets from Summit if I have the time to wait on the shipping. They should have a gasket set that will take care of all that.

I agree with Fox. Felpro is a good product. And most everyone I know uses a nice thick bead of RTV on the front and rear of the intake rather then using the rubber gasket. Just make sure you let it setup a bit before you slap the intake on. And you can't use too much.

Buy the felpro gasket set.

Dont use any CORK type gaskets, make sure everything is rubber or fine material.

which intake should i not use the gasket?
the lower to the block, or the upper to the lower??
and i just use rtv sealant the whole way around instead of the gasket??

See this is the deal.

Felpro gives you CORK type/sometimes rubber gaskets for the LOWER to BLOCK. They are STRIPS of gasket, one for the front of the intake, one for the back. DONT use these, overtime the CORK deteriorates and blows out, the rubber can get soft and blow out also.

I always put a nice thick bead of black silicone. Let it dry for a couple hours, and then check for any leaks.

When you take it apart you will clearly know what we are talking about.

But make sure you USE the rest of the gaskets, especially lower to heads!

The felpros come with rubber gaskets for the front and back of the lower intake to engine gasket. Some people use them, some people dont. They were used on my last intake swap and still looked good when I pulled the intake off months later. They will seal right if the proper prep procedures are used. It's up to the person doing the work. All I will say is, on my next intake swap, I will use them again.

thanks dude i really appreciate you guys help..im doing alot of tuning up this winter and i want to do things right..soill have more quesitons on the way lol..
well today im actually taking off both my manifolds and maybe valve covers..any tips?? i need to relive my fuel pressure right..how do i do that??? and i do i need to drain my coolant i guess huh

Just make sure you save all your bolts in seperate/marked containers.

To relieve your fuel pressure, look for the SHRADER valve along your fuel line. I forgot where it was, some models have it where the lines connect from the body to the rails, and others have it at the fuel pressure regulator. Anyhow the shrader valve looks like a bycicle air nipple, just press it with a small flathead and your fuel pressure is relieved.

You might also want to inspect your injectors for any cracks and o-ring damage, and if there is any excess dirt or grime.

when I tore my engine down a few months ago, they had used the RTV for the end seals...let me tell you it was a pain in the a$$ to remove all of it.I put the rubber end seals on that came with the felpro head set ($75 at autozone) and haven't had any problems. I'll most likely use them again unless I find a good reason to use messy RTV
