First let my say that I am a sorry for posting another Mach 460 replacement thread, but I still can't find the right answers. I have the seperate head unit and cd player in my 98 GT. The spit out button on my cd player isn't working so I can't change cd's. I am thinking about getting a single head unit that plays mp3s and all that good stuff. I really like the sound of the Mach 460 systems. So my question is can you reuse the factory amps and speakers? If not, what is the best way to replace the factory stuff with equal equipment that will sound about the same? I am trying to avoid the big sub and amp in the truck. I appreciate and help. Thanks.

So you already have the Mach460 system in your car? I installed a aftermarket head unit in my 98 with the Mach 460 with a special connector i got from walmart, it will say Ford with Premium Sound(something similar) didnt take but a few minutes and i was done.

there is a blue wire that u have to wire into a 12v source to turn the factory amps on, most headunits have a blue ampwire on them and u can just use that. thats what i did in my 99 with a sony cd/mp3 player and it sounds just fine

I didnt notice a change in quality from factory unit to my aftermarket one, but i do have a whining noise that i would like to get rid of. I have had it since i bought the car, did it when factory and aftermarket units.
