Pump seized on me yesterday, so i got a rebuilt unit today from Autozone. Question is, is this simple unbolt and bolt back on kind of thing, or is there something i should know about when replacing the pump...TIA

Yep... you need to go back the parts store and get the tool for removing that pulley from the pump. A regular pulley puller WILL NOT get it off without bending the crap out of the thing.

It can often be found in the 'help' section if not in the tool section.

You will need to rent or buy a PS steering puller. The PS pulley has a ridge that the puller seats on. Then you crank the screw on the middle of the puller to get the pulley off the shaft.

You can rent the tool at Autozone or or auto parts stores.

I have used a bearing separator & harmonic balancer puller together to do the job.

Use this tool to put it back on...

I usually just use the bolt that comes with the new PS pump.

Make sure you put the teflon o-ring that comes with the new unit on the high pressure hose fitting. Also, make sure the screws that hold the pump to the block or bracket go into the pump alright. If not, run a tap through to clear out the paint if it was used in the rebuild. Lastly, the tool they give you to put the pulley back on is total crap. It can easily bend or snap and youll be stuck with bolt in the pump. Its a good idea to flush the new pump with a gallon of ATF to get the shaved metal out from the lines so it doesnt chew the new pump up.
