I have to help a buddy replace the rubber window trim at the top of the door, the trim that touches the glass (on the door exterior). It runs the length of the door. Does it just pull off? Can anyone give an explanation on how to do it? Thanks and sorry for the dumb question. I attached a pic of exactly the piece I am referring to.

Car is a 2003 Mustang

thanks

Yeah it justs pulls off. When you go to put it back on, you will need patience, and a dull flat head screw driver to press it into the metal track that holds it in.

Hey thanks for your reply. Can you give a little more detail about the process with the dull flathead screwdriver?

i belive theres 1 rivit that holds it in place. you need to drill that out. you also need to remove the side mirror to pop it off.

youll need a rivit gun to put the new one on correctly

When you are dealing with trim it is always best to take your time and be extremely careful. Pay close attention to how it all comes apart, take pictures if you have to.

You should at least call a good trim shop and find out how much it would cost to have it done for you.

It has been my personal experience that with trim, like many things in life, you usually do not get it right the first time.

You don't need a rivet gun. The rivet is not a rivet. It is a plastic push clip on a coupe. It simply pulls off and just pushes back in. There is a metal rivet on a convertible.
